Manuscripta juridica

[Principal Investigator: G. R. Dolezalek]

Edinburgh, NL Scotland, Adv.MS.24.1.5

Century: XVII ex. vel XVIII in.

Number of folios: 247

Material: chart.

Height: 403

Width: 265

Region and Place of Production: Britannia

Cover: saec. XIX, leather on cardboard

Watermark: thistle blossom, weak, probably Scottish paper (fol. 52, 54, 57, 59, 118 [good], 207 [good], 211); heart, crowned, with letters NR and beneath O (fol. 238 [good], 241, 242); no watermarks in heavy-weight paper fol. 213-236.

Handwriting: It appears that only one scribe penned the entire volume. He wrote relatively good Latin, and he even managed to transcribe some of the Jus Commune quotations correctly, but garbled many others. Some parts of the texts are difficult to read because of ink corrosion. Some other parts have faint ink, hardly readable.

Pagination: modern foliation in pencil. Old pagination in ink in the upper left margin, 1-472. This shows that the volume was only paginated at a time when the first sheets were already lost
