Decisiones curiae supremae Scotiae - Practicks 1540-1549 .

At the beginning, sheets have been lost. Probably an entire quire of paper is lacking. The text in the present MS is at times better than in the provisional edition. For instance, in item 415 the MS specifies that master Alexander lived at Coupar (fol. 35v). Yet, the present text is not consistently better than in other MSS: in item 229 the present MS slightly abridges a quotation which is more complete in the provisional edition. I roughly controlled the first fifty and last hundred items: their arrangement corresponds to the provisional edition. Headings of items regularly correspond to those in the provisional edition.

On what is now the first page, the items are numbered in the left margin, 35-41. The numbering ceases thereafter, but another numbering, very selective, commences on fol. 27v-35r (= pag. 54-69) with numbers 67-105 (= provisional edition 350-411). An additional attempt was made on fol. 1r-3r to number the items for each individual page, on the right margins.

The present MS keeps items together which in the provisional edition are split into several separate items.

[{i}First preserved item:{/i}] 35 Probation be chartour. Secundo Aprilis anno eodem in causa regis contra Lundie ... [{i}= provisional edition n. 56{/i}].

[{i}The end corresponds to the provisional edition.{/i}]
