XIX, leather on cardboard</p> <p> Watermark: jug with broad letters PO and on its base a letter 'I', on the lid seven skittles and above them a lying half moon (fol. 21-26, 30a, 76 [good], 83f, 83h, 241a-242c, 311); another jug with broad letters RR and with seven skittles on the lid and a six-petaled blossom above (fol. 45, 51-52, 55, 62a [good], 269b, 271); jug with letters P and beneath GG, a crowned lid and a four-petaled blossom above it (fol. 85 [good]); jug with letters FD and beneath I, with crowned lid and above it a lying half moon (fol. 137a); jug with letters TB (fol. 398a [weak]); jug with large letters PO (fol. 428c); two pillars, between them letters GAL and above them a bunch of grapes (fol. 110a, 110c [good], a trifle different 422a ss., again a trifle different 438b-e, 517a [good]); different pillars, above the middle a bunch of grapes (fol. 515b); two columns, the left one with an S-shaped ornament, the right one with an inverted S (fol. 503a) - as in Adv.MSS.24.6.3 (3) and 25.4.1.</p> <p> Foliation: old foliation in ink 1-562, omitting the blank leaves. The first volume ends with fol. 311 plus blank leaves.</p> <p> Handwriting: several different characters of handwriting. One consistent hand has added summaries in the margins of many items (= hand of the 1st Earl of Haddington?)
