XIX</p> <p> Watermark: thistle, crowned, with initials JR, AR = Jacobus rex, Anna regina (fol. 3, 29, 42, 280-282, 287 - paper produced in 1589, earliest).</p> <p> Foliation: modern foliation in pencil 1-290. 16th century references in the register fol. 1-27 prove that the volume had original foliation in ink, starting on what is now fol. 31. Numbers of the old foliation were probably cut off when the volume was rebound. Pagination saec. XVIII in ink 1-540, starting fol. 31r.</p> <p> The paper's colour is light brown. The ink is dark brown. Fire burnt holes into folios 188-193. This must have happened not long after these folios were written. Paper has carefully been glued across the holes, and the missing text was re-supplied in the same type of handwriting as before
