Cover: contemporary in parchment, now kept in a modern cardboard case with letters SALTOUN on spine, 328 x 219</p> <p> Watermark: jug, large, with letters I and beneath DL, on base a fleur-de-lis, on collar a lying half moon, on the lid five skittles, each bearing three balls, above the middle a four-petaled blossom and a lying half moon (in two slightly different variants, fol. 6, 43, 87 [good], 97, 105; fol. 7-8, 26, 59 [excellent], 92 [good], 108). In both variants the rim of some skittles is badly crooked, in one variant also the blossom's rim crooked.</p> <p> Modern foliation in pencil. Old foliation in ink on the upper left corners, 2-107, proving that the former first folio is lost. Of the former second folio only a triangle of its left upper corner is extant, 145 x 55 mm. Of the former third folio there only remains a small triangle without text. The modern numbering of folios therefore starts with the former fourth folio
