Decisiones curiae supremae Scotiae - Practicks 1573-1592: (1577/7/4 - 1581/2) .

Directly continuing Maitland's Practicks, without any break or change of colour of ink. Even the numbering of items continues: 498-614 [{i}as in Adv.MS.24.1.8 which derives from the present MS{/i}]. The only difference is that now the dates are appended to the headings [{i}as in Adv.MS.24.1.5 and 24.1.8{/i}]. To judge from the wording of the headings, Adv.MS.24.1.8 is more closely related to the present MS than MSS Signet 34 and 37

  • [{i}First items, nr. 498 1577/7/4:{/i}] Efter it be concludit in the caus and protestatioun admittit quoad alias, na probatioun is receavit. The Laird of Camnethane gave in ane supplicatioun and desyrit in the actioun betuixt him and my Lord Somervell ... the bill could not be grantit. [{i}This is the normal beginning of Colvill's Practicks in most MSS. This item lacks, however, in MSS Edinburgh, Signet L, 34 and 37.{/i}].

    499 [{i}1577/11/3 = Colvill, second item = first item of the series in MSS Signet 34 and 37:{/i}] Gudis tane be vertew of ane decreit decernit as spuilzeit gudis. Ther was ane callit Mr. Douglas that persewit ane Gordoun for the spoliatioun of certain gudis ... and becaus of the testament and offering them to mak faith admittit them.

    614 = 1581/? Ther was ane woman callit B. (?), warnit to flitt and remove ... efter hir husbandis deceis scho could not be prejudgit.
