Institutions of the law of Scotland: text sample written by a job aspirant . Pale ink. Pag. 4 is blank. It may seem strange that the text breaks off after only three pages. I think that someone intended commissioning a copy of Stair's Institutions, and that he had found two aspirants for the job. Both were asked to write the first three pages, to test their ability. It turned out that the one who wrote what are now pages 1-3 was less able, so he was sent away. The other one was then employed and delivered the work
