This is a treatise on legal method. It compares the manner of legal reasoning and construction in interpreting the {i}Corpus iuris canonici{/i} and Christian ethics on the one side, and in interpreting the {i}Corpus iuris civilis{/i} on the other side. The text quotes commentaries by Philippus Decius and by Bartolus de Saxoferrato to the {i}Digesta{/i}, by Baldus de Ubaldis to the {i}Codex Justinianus{/i}, and the same author's commentary to the {i}Decretales{/i} of Pope Gregory IX.
