Cover: saec. XIX, leather on cardboard, spine renewed in 1937

Watermark: gothic letter p, large, with split foot, as in Edinburgh, NL Scotland, MS.16497 (from fol. 37-38 till 197, 199, 202, 204) - similar in character to the mark in Adv.MS.25.5.11, but it does not have a blossom on top as in the latter MS; cross, constituted by two short lines, but the main part of this watermark is in the centre fold and can thus not be seen (fol. 215, 218); gothic letter p, large, with split foot, similar to the mark above (fol. 225, 227).

(Flyleaf i, note:) Edinburgh, 6. December 1776. This manuscript of the Regiam maiestatem and of the Scots law treatises, mostly in the Scottish language, is a very great curiosity, and on that account I have presented it to the learned Faculty of Advocates to be preserved by them in their valuable library. Alexander Boswell.

(Flyleaf ii recto and verso:) Table of contents, saec. XVIII. The contents closely resemble MS Glasgow, UL, Murray 548.

[{i}Note at the end of the table of contents:{/i}] I take this MS to have been wrote before the 1500, and it is clear that it was not wrote before 1455, for in that part intitled 'The manner of shawing of halding', fol. 175, the time of the several courts is 1455. So it is probable it was wrote in that year. The last part from fol. 206 to the end is wrote by a different hand
