Digesta
Author(s):
Digesta , full text, main base of all printed editions. A facsimile was produced in Rome 1902-1910. Copies of it exist for instance in München BayStB, Freiburg UB, London BL (Facsimile n.51). About eighty years later a facsimile of the facsimile was produced and sold for a high price as a novelty.
The question where the MS originated has been for a long time an object of speculation. Recent opinion among scholars tends toward Italian origin. Annalisa Belloni argued that the luxurious measurements and style of the manuscript suggest an origin from the equally luxurious scriptorium which Cassiodor had instituted in his monastery ‘Vivarium’, near Squillace in Calabria
