Ius proprium Scotiae - Practicks (digest of "Auld Lawis"), systematic (preparatory work for 'Balfour's Practicks', in six books, in Scots) .

Pagination in ink 1-283, saec. XIX. The present manuscript was copied from the same ancestor MS as MS Edinburgh, NR Scotland, GD112/71/5. The ancestor MS was either misbound, or it consisted of loose leaves and some of them were not in their correct place. The first page has been maltreated with chemicals in order to make the faded ink readable, but this has effected that it is now extremely difficult to decipher the text. It might be interesting to compare this MS to the attempted translation of Regiam maiestatem into Scots in MS Edinburgh, UL, Laing III.423, but this translation breaks off after only three pages.

[{i}Arrangement of the work:{/i}].

Liber 1, de iure personarum (pag. 2).

Appendix to Liber 1 (but with wrong page headings 'Liber secundus'): De legibus burgorum (pag. 43).

Liber 2 [{i}book's title not copied{/i}], (pag. 83).

Liber 3 [{i}book's title not copied{/i}], (pag. 99).

Liber 4, de preparatoriis iudiciorum, sive de iudiciis (pag. 118, breaks off incomplete in the middle of title 14 c. 5).

Liber 5, de civilibus actionibus (pag. 163).

Liber 6, de causis criminalibus (pag. 219)
