The list mentions a shelfmark Cotton Caligula C. 3, but the descriptions do not correspond to the contents of the present manuscript London, BL, Cotton Caligula C.iii = a volume of 536 leaves with copies of letters written at the time of the Scottish crisis 1571-1585. It might be that the notes in the Signet Library are not only taken from Caligula C.iii but also from other manuscripts of the Caligula series - which is rich in Scottish material
