Decisiones curiae supremae Scotiae - Practicks 1541-1547, overlapping with collection by John Sinclair

Incipit:

  • Thair wes ane Somerwell that [and then:] persewit ane Hamiltoun

Decisiones curiae supremae Scotiae - Practicks 1541-1547 , anonymous, overlapping with collection by John Sinclair. In chronological order, as in Edinburgh, NL Scotland, Adv.MS.22.3.4. Largely anglicised. The scribe wrote 'when', 'where',.

'which', 'whose', but he alternated this usage with abbreviations for 'quhen', 'quhair', 'quhilk', 'quhois'. For the Latin ending 'um' he wrote an abbreviation similar to the figure 7.

In this MS, part I, part II and part III fol. 1-108 are all written by the same hand. Pale yellowish ink. Readable - but not easily readable. The volume is closely related to MSS Edinburgh, UL, Laing III.429 and.

Edinburgh, NL Scotland, Adv.MS.24.1.4.

The items are not numbered. They bear headings, but these are written in the margins. The scribe has skipped words and text passages which are preserved in other MSS, and also some references. The present MS comprises the following items of the provisional edition of Sinclair's Practicks: 595, 596, then four unedited items as in Adv.MS.22.3.4, then 592-594, 586-588, 591, 576, 585, 566, etc., ending with items 521, 516, 514, 511, 512, 513
