Formularium Cancellariae Scotiae

Formularium Cancellariae Scotiae . Styles for the royal Chancery.

Written by a hasty hand in dark brown ink before the year 1658 (see dated note on first page - in which the book is misidentified to be a 'Register of hornings'). Tiresome to read.

Model documents are issued either in the name of Charles King of Great Britain, France and Irland, thus 17th century, or in the name of the Lords of Council and Session. No plausible order of arrangement. Many headings cross-refer to other model documents. Explanations of procedure are interspersed.

One model document on page 140 copies the text of a document from 1568: 'Hec inquisitio facta fuit in pretorio burgi de Edinbrucht tetute(!?) disputationis dominorum Consilii et Sessionis tam penes lectua.(?) quam tempus vacan(?)tiarum concess. primo die mensis Octobris anno domini 1568 coram discretis viris ...'
