Rubric: Some things extracted out of the Bookes of Decreits and Acts that are keeped in the Castle of Edinburgh for informing of the manner of justice administrat in civil causes, befor the erecting of the Colledge of Justice.

[{i}First heading:{/i}] Ex libro Actorum, incipiens 17 May 1469 et finiens 22 Novembris 1470, being ane book in quarto in the Castle. The names of these who are judges in this tyme and are marked in the Sederunt.

(Fol. 274r) The therd booke of Registers is in folio, beginning 13 Feb. 1480, and ending the therd November 1483.

[{i}Sample:{/i}] 1481/2/7 The Lords fand that the hors wherupon umquhile Thomas Bullock, servitor to James [{i}blank space{/i}] of Durhame ran in the watter of Avon and wes drowned, wes not escheat to our Soveraigne Lord, because, beand inquest taken befor the sherieff of Linlithgow, be command of the Lords of Counsale, it wes found that the said Thomas forced the hors with spures to take the watter, and throw his own follie and rashfulnes wes drowned, and not (be) the horses default. And therfor de(ce)rnes the horss to the said James [{i}blank space{/i}] of Durhame.

The fourth book is in folio likewayes, beginning the nynth of March 1483, and ending the 14 April 1485. In this book the Lords wer often called 'The Lords Auditors of Counsell and Complaints' that wer appointed be Parliament togither with the Lords of Counsell.

The fifth [{i}MS wrongly:{/i} first] book is in folio likewayes, beginning the 25 of October 1486, and ending the 15 November 1487
