[{i}First entries:{/i}] In the first, the slaughter of the Earle of Huntley wes upon the 28 day of October at the Bankat four(?).

The Earle of Lennox came to Scotland the 21 day of September 1564, and his restoring wes in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh in ane Parliament holden the [{i}blank space{/i}] day of 1564.

The homecomeing of my Lord Darnley his sone out of England wes the 12 February 1564. He wes made duke, earle, lord and knight in the mounth of Jully and wes crownit be the queen's majestie with the croune of matrimonie upon the 28 of the said mounth, and upon the morne his mariage wes with the queens grace in the Abbay of Halyrudehous, with the mess, and came to preacheing two sundayes next thairafter, and never efter untill decease.

The Lords underwrittin wer banished for not consenting to the forsaid mariage. Ther reasone wes becaus the queen wold not grant to the establisheing of the true religione. And they remained in England thrie mounths or thairby.

[{i}Last entries:{/i}] The nativitie and birth of our noble Prince wes in the castle of Edinburgh the 17 of June at elleavine hours, in the yeare of our Lord 1566. His baptiseing wes in Stirling be the Bishope of St. Androis the 10 day of December the forsaid yeire.

The king came not to the said baptisme, but many of the lords waited upon the Earle of Bothwell whilk wer present at the said baptisme. The king went to Glascow soone efter and remainit ther quhill January. And then the queens grace and the lords quhilk wer then in the Court went for him to bring him to Edinburgh, 1566.

The king remainit and lay in the Kirk of Feild, and diverse tymes the queen came to sie how he did, he being verie sieke, 1566.

He being in his bed the 9 of February at two in the bell efter midnight wes blowen in the air and the haill loudgeing, William Tailyeor being also murthered with him, who wes his servand, in anno 1566.

The Earle of Murray departit to France within a mounth efter the said slaughter 1566.

The Prince wes sent to the Lord Erskine in Stirling the 8 of March the yeare of God 1567. And he deliverit the castle of Edinburgh to her grace the same day, whilk she gave in keeping to Sir William Cockburne of Stirling, Knight, who keept the samyne to the 22 of Aprile, and then Sir James Balfoure of Pittindrieth, Knight, Laird of Burlie [{i}= Burleigh{/i}], wes made captaine therof
