Glossae ad Digestum vetus
Author(s):
Glossae ad Digestum vetus . First layer: written by a professional scrivener, around 1200, very dark blackish brown ink. Notabilia start with a blue initial, rarely with a red initial. Furthermore allegationes, some of them with a solutio contrariorum attached to them. In contrast this layer has only very few text-explaining glosses: none in the margins, and merely some scant short ones between the lines of the main text. It appears that the customer who paid a professional scribe for the copying of glosses ran out of patience or money after the notabilia and allegationes had been written.
Sigla: y, r, a, m (fol. 62va), IoB (fol. 63va). Rare siglum 'Pig.' in a solutio contrariorum fol. 63rb: 'sed secundum pig. nulla contrarietas'.
Second layer, by another professional scrivener. Dark brown ink, but lighter and usually also smaller than the first layer. Altogether not many glosses. Only a small percentage provides additional allegationes. All others are text-explaining glosses, and they start with a paragraph sign in a shape which was fashionable around 1200.
Third layer: text-explaining glosses by several different hands, saec. XIII.1. Many glosses are quite long. Sigla: secundum ub. (fol. 78r), az (fol. 55r).
Furthermore the manuscript preserves some rough pencil notes, in light brown colour, most of them on the first 50 leaves, and particularly on the lower margins.
