Institutiones (Inst.1.1-3.10, with gaps because sheets were cut out). Saec. XIII.1, British. The text breaks off near the end of Inst.3.10: 'nostros magistratus bonaque eorum cum usu'.

The text is written in black ink on lines which were drawn by means of an instrument which left traces in grey colour. Compass pricks for text lines can also be seen in the inner margin. Rubrics in red ink - and there are more rubrics than in Mommsen's edition (see rubric fol. 1vb De iure scripto). First letters of titles are two lines high, almost all of them in red ink. First words of books 1, 2, 3 are written in large upper case letters, alternating between red ink and normal ink. Red paragraph marks. The first letter of each paragraph is reinforced in red ink, and so are some first letters of phrases within paragraphs.

Quires: 1-11 (after fol. 1 one sheet cut off. Text is therefore missing after Inst.2.1 Scriptum ius est lex, plebiscita, senatus/, and text resumes in Inst.1.5 duabus constitutionibus hoc emendavit. After fol. 5 bookbinder's threads can be seen). 12-21 (after fol. 16 one bifolium was cut off, and bookbinder's threads can be seen in the remnants. Text is therefore missing after Inst.2.11 paganorum proxime exposuimus. Pla/, and text resumes in Inst.2.14 adire hereditatem potest). 22-32 (after fol. 24 one sheet cut off. Text is therefore missing after Inst.2.23 quidem transferantur ad fidei/, and text resumes in Inst.2.25 et Antoninus rescripserunt. After fol. 26 bookbinder's threads).

Reclamants from text hand are situated near the lower rim under the middle of colum vb of quires' last sheet, framed in red ink (fol. 11vb, 21 vb, 32vb).
