This 'Supplement' contains four parts. The first part, called 'Appendix I', contains law reports extracted from the Faculty collection 'which occurred during the progress of the publication of the 38 volumes', arranged in the order of vol. 1-38 of the Dictionary 'and printed in such a manner as to be capable of being interspersed through it at the ends of the respective Titles'. [{i}Most acquirers have indeed separated the individual pages of 'Appendix I' and bound them into the main volumes, after each respective keyword there{/i}].
The second part, called 'Branch I. of Appendix II', contains decisions collected by Patrick Grant Lord Elchies: 'Lord Elchies's valuable collection was brought to light, in consequence of the donation by Sir James Montgomery Bart. of the original manuscript to the Library of the Faculty of Advocates. This Collection contains many cases which had not been formerly reported ... Lord Elchies's work, therefore, was next published, in the same form with Appendix I, and constitutes Branch I. of Appendix II' [{i}Branch II. of the Appendix II was never published{/i}].
The third partcontains various surveys of sources of volumes 1-38, as shown in the Table of contents, on.

1. Observations concerning the Institution, and Acts of Sederunt of the Court of Session, taken from a manuscript in the handwriting of Lord Elchies.
2. Preface by Mr. William Forbes, Advocate, to his Collection of Decisions, which contains a History of the Court of Session.
3. Lord Kames's prefaces, of which that to his Dictionary of Decisions contains the manner and principle of the arrangement of the Dictionary.
4. Table of the distribution in the Dictionary of Decisions of the cases reported by Lord Durie, which begin in July 1621 and end in July 1642.
5. Cases from Lord Durie's Collection which had not been taken into the arrangement of the Dictionary, referred to in the foregoing Table and in Appendix II.
6. Table of the distribution of the cases reported by President Gilmour, which commence in July 1661 and end in July 1666.
7. Table of the distribution of the cases reported by President Falconer, which commence in November 1682 and end in January 1686.
8. Cases reported by Gilmour and Falconer, referred to in the two foregoing tables and in Appendix II.
