Decisiones curiae supremae Scotiae - Practicks (digest of decisions), alphabetical, 1741 .

[{i}Title page:{/i}] The Decisions of the Court of Session from Its first Institution to the present Time, Abridged, and Digested under proper Heads, in Form of a Dictionary. Collected from a great Number of Manuscripts, never before published, as well as from the printed Decisions. Vol. 1-2, Edinburgh: Richard Watkins ..., Alexander Kinkaid and Robert Fleming. 1741 [{i}copy at Aberdeen, UL, shelfmark pi f 3465 C.S.{/i}].

[{i}Unnumbered leaf after the title page:{/i}] A List of the several Collections of Decisions from which this Work is taken, with the Periods of these Collections.

Sinclair's practicks, from June 1540, to February 1548.

Sir Richard Maitland of Lithingtoun, from December 1550, to July 1565 [{i}inaccurate!{/i}].

Alexander Colvil commendator of Culross, from March 1570, to April 1584 [{i}inaccurate!{/i}].

Thomas Hamilton Lord Haddington, from 1592, to July 1624.

Sir Alexander Gibson Lord Dury, from July 1621, to July 1642. Printed.

Sir George Erskine of Inverteil, from 1621 to 1642.

[{i}This needs detailed investigation, because none of the collections which have come to light is attributed to Sir George Erskine of Inverteil! Sir George was appointed senator in 1618 (see MS Aberdeen, UL, 143). He or his namesake John Lord Erskine was still sitting in 1625 (see MS Edinburgh, NR Scotland, RH13/57) and was mentioned as no longer in his post in 1630/11/30 (see MS Edinburgh, NR Scotland, GD100/318 page 210). Sir George was then mentioned as president of the Secret Council in 1643 (see MS Glasgow, Mitchell L, Accession 39607 pag. 257-262). The range of years indicated by Lord Kames, 1621-1642, suggests that the MS which he saw contained a copy of Durie's Practicks, owned by Sir George{/i}].

Sir John Gilmour of Craigmillar, from July 1661, to July 1666. Printed.

James Dalrymple Viscount Stair, from July 1661, to July 1681. Printed.

Sir John Nisbet Lord Dirleton, from December 1665, to June 1677. Printed.

Sir John Baird Lord Newbyth, from November 1664, to February 1667.

Sir Peter Wedderburn Lord Gosford, from June 1668, to August 1677.

Sir David Falconer Lord Newton, from November 1681, to January 1686. Printed.

Sir John Lauder Lord Fountainhall, from 1678 to November 1712.

Sir Hugh Dalrymple of Northberwick, from June 1698, to December 1718.

... [{i}and William Forbes, Alexander Bruce, Henry Home{/i}].

[{i}and Spottiswoode, Balfour, Hope, Balmanno, Nicolson{/i}] ... Collected in form of a dictionary, and the decisions they observe are before the restoration. N.B.: Spotiswood alone is printed, the rest are in manuscript.
