NAVIGATIO Treatise "Sea laws" .

[{i}Title page:{/i}] William Welwood, The sea-law of Scotland: shortly gathered and plainly dressit for the reddy use of all seafairingmen. Edinburgh: Imprinted by Robert Waldegrave, 1590 [{i}available in electronic storage under http://eebo.chadwyck.com. The images show no page numbers. It may either be that the edition was not paginated, or it could also be that the photographs were taken from a copy whose margins had been trimmed, so that the pagination was cut off. There also exists a reprint copy on paper, published at Amsterdam: Theatrum Orbis Terrarum and New York: Da Capo P. 1969{/i}].

Differences to the second and third edition:

In the first edition, Welwood only referred to Scottish statutes, to the Corpus iuris civilis with the Glossa ordinaria, to Bartolus de Saxoferrato, and to the sea law rules of the Rôles d'Oléron. No reference to the Corpus iuris canonici, nor to judicial precedent, or to authors besides Bartolus, or to other sources of sea law.
