Digesta - Digestum vetus

Author(s):

  • Justinianus imperator

Digesta - Digestum vetus . The text continues into book 25 and breaks off in D.25.3.5.13, probably because the volume lost one bifolium at its end. On average, one sheet in the present volume corresponds to 3.28 text columns in Mommsen's edition. Text after the point where the manuscript now breaks off to the end of book 25 fills 5.5 columns in Mommsen's edition = one bifolium. The volume as we see it in our time must have been an attempt to imitate an old archetype's subdivision into two volumes D.1-25 and D.26-50.

The oldest parts of this MS have full inscriptiones. The ink is brown ink with a slightly red tone in it. They have complete inscriptiones, and their text lacked a division into paragraphs. Paragraph markings were added afterwards - still in the twelfth century.
