A ship from Hamburg, traveling from Reval to Amsterdam, was intercepted by Frenchmen, and they brought the vessel into the Scottish harbour 'Maurosse nuncupatum' [{i}= Montrose?{/i}] and requested the Scottish authorities to adjudicate the ship and everything on it to them 'iure belli'. The Scottish authorities dismissed the claim, and they ordered that the Frenchmen should release the ship and the goods. The consuls and senators of Lübeck express their gratitude, and they attest and confirm that neither Lübeck nor any other eastern city of the Hansa is in any way in war with France. They thus request to inform all Scottish port authorities in this sense
