Ius proprium Scotiae - College of Justice: personnel 1532-1789 .

This is probably a copy of the Catalogue of the Lords of Session, prepared by David Dalrymple Lord Hailes in 1767, enriched and updated, with footnotes - as mentioned in the Prefatory Notice by George Brunton / David Haig, An historical account of the Senators of the College of Justice from its institution in 1532, Edinburgh 1837. Below I list the essential contents of the main text, for the first hundred years. The writer could also have used William Aikman of Cairnie's pertinent work. The present list is not complete. For instance, for the years 1626-1637 Sir George Auchinleck of Balmanno in his Practicks mentions more names.

A parallel series of names of senators was written in a similarly curious way (also backwards in the volume) in Edinburgh, NL Scotland, Adv.MS.24.6.5, fol. 116v-112v.
