No author mentioned, no title. Only above the beginning of the second part a later hand wrote: 'Pairt second of the Lord Stairs Practicks' (fol. 128r). Written by only one scribe, on one type of paper. The year date 1658 appears at least twelve times in book 1 (fol. 12v, 13v, 32, 42, 51, 56, 60, 66, 72, 75, 77, 83r), whereas the year 1659 appears perhaps only once (fol. 83v). Many practicks are quoted from Haddington, Durie, Spottiswoode. The MS contains notes by another hand, in the margins and on inserted sheets, with dates ranging untill 1665 (fol. 10v, 19r, 30r-v, loose sheet after fol. 36, fol. 52, as noted on a loosely inserted paper strip in recent handwriting)
